Here is how it works:
- Vehicles are picked up and processed at no cost to donors or donor designated charities
- An accredited 501(c)3 "Central Charity" accepts vehicle titles, files all IRS and donor tax receipts, and distributes proceeds from vehicle auctions to maintain donor tax deductibility and ensure indemnification of the "receiving" non-profits.
- Vehicles are handled by the auction service for 14 of the 20 largest insurance companies and the top 10 national charitable programs.
- Donors get a tax receipt for their donation station the charity that will benefit from the net proceed, if any, of their donation.
- Charities get a check for the net proceeds from any donations.
- V-DAC (Vehicle Donation to any Charity) gets a small administration fee for managing the program. The fee is used for preparing and managing internet services, processing systems and fund raising materials. V-DAC, itself, does not solicit or pay for solicitations of donations for charitable purposes.
